Divorce

Divorce is a stressful and emotional experience, and it is obviously best to seek agreement where possible – once the pots and pans have been thrown, it’s vital that you and your partner get together to talk! It’s the time to do everything you can to deal with things in a civilised way. We can help!

Divorce can be fairly quick in straightforward cases – when you are both in agreement, the process usually takes between three to six months. Some disputes, however, can take much longer, but we can suggest ways to shorten the process; one way is mediation. Gareth Webb & Co LLP Solicitors experienced trained mediators can often help to broker a successful agreement. We can also help you with resolving disputes over your children, your finances, your house, your pensions and investments, maintenance payments and dealing with the CSA/C-MEC.

If you have suffered domestic violence or you have been threatened, injunction proceedings may be necessary. We can help you in this situation too.

Divorce Costs

Public Funding (What used to be called ‘Legal Aid’)

We are always happy to assess whether or not you are eligible for Public Funding. As a divorce often involves disputes over money, some or all of that money may be discounted for Public Funding. We’ll arrange a meeting with you to make a careful and thorough assessment of your circumstances. You’ll need to bring all the documentation you have showing your income and major outgoings, including rent or mortgage payments and child care costs.

Private consultations

We are always pleased to provide a quotation for private work. Our solicitors charge £150 per hour, and our legal executives £130 per hour. We’ll work hand-in-hand with you on costs, and at our first meeting we’ll explain to you what those costs will be and what we can all do to keep them to a minimum. Remember, this first meeting is free, and gives you the opportunity to discuss openly any issues or problems to do with your fees.
