Criminal representation

Gareth Webb & Co LLP have one of the most effective criminal defence practices in the south west of England. We have two criminal advocates, and they are supported by a legal executive, an accredited clerk, and an accredited police station representative. We are one of the few firms in Somerset and Dorset who have an in-house barrister; this means that we can provide advice and representation at every stage, from police station to the Court of Appeal.

I’ve been told to go to the police station – please help!

If you are asked to go to or return to a police station in Somerset, call us for free representation. Being arrested is a confusing and sometimes frightening experience, even if you know you have done nothing wrong. For this reason, the government pays for you to have a lawyer at the police station if you are to be interviewed. We specialise in providing advice in this situation, and we have wide experience in all kinds of cases, from the trivial to the very serious. Please telephone us to arrange for free representation; our quality help is essential to protect your interests.

‘I would just like to say thank you for the help you and your colleagues have given me. Ian Mathieson was a great help especially, not only when assisting me at the police station, but also in explaining things to my mother once I was released.’

I have to appear in court – please help!

We pride ourselves in the quality of representation at both the Magistrates’ Court and the Crown Court. Often this assistance is free of charge: please contact Gareth Webb at gwebb@garethwebb.co.uk for an assessment and an initial discussion.

Representation is provided mainly by Gareth Webb, and we are also in contact with a network of experienced barristers and solicitors who can help if they are needed. Gareth particularly enjoys representing young people in the youth court, and he is a duty solicitor on the Yeovil and Frome schemes.

‘Your empathy with everyone concerned has been very touching – and your expertise in all the relevant areas has been so helpful. All your advice has been sound, and kept us focused in the right ways.’ A testimonial from a recent Gareth Webb & Co LLP client.

Will I get Legal Aid?

Most of our criminal work is funded by the Legal Services Commission. This means that clients do not have to pay for our advice and representation if they qualify. Please feel free to contact Gareth Webb at gwebb@garethwebb.co.uk or telephone her on 01935 428885. He will be pleased to give you some initial advice about your eligibility. If you do not qualify for Legal Aid, we are happy to provide estimates or fixed price quotations for criminal representation.

All advice at the police station is free, and we try to cover attendance at Yeovil and Taunton police stations at any time of day or night.

To see whether you are eligible for Legal Aid, consult the Legal Service Commission’s website at: http://www.legalservices.gov.uk/public/can_i_get_legal_aid.asp

Motoring cases

Motoring allegations often present complex legal challenges. Lack of knowledge can lead to unnecessarily harsh results. Offences involving penalty points may have a major effect on both you and your family. It is vital that good advice and robust, informed representation is brought to bear on these cases. Please contact us at an early stage to see how we can help.
